Our team at UPL recently completed a backyard renovation project at a home located in the Sugar Creek neighborhood in Omaha, NE. We installed a beautiful new paver patio in their backyard as well as a fire pit and outdoor steps to enhance the beauty and functionality of their outdoor living space. As the final touch, we also added landscaping plants and fresh mulch along one of the borders of their new patio. The first step of this project was to meet with our client at their home to assess the site and discuss their renovation project with them. Then, we met with the homeowner again to discuss the layout of their project and help them select the materials that they wanted to use. Once all of the details were finalized, we were able to get to work and our team carefully installed every part of their project and made sure everything looked fantastic!
The first step of this backyard landscape renovation project was to meet our client at their home in Omaha, NE.
The first step of this project was to meet with our client at their home. During the initial meeting, we walked the property to assess the site and conditions and discuss the parameters of their backyard landscape renovation project. The home is located in the Sugar Creek neighborhood in Omaha, Nebraska. We discussed where the patio and fire pit would be located as well as the landscaping around the home. While meeting with customers for the first time we strive to gather as much information as possible in order to prepare a plan that showcases the project and provide an accurate estimate for the client to review that will meet their needs.
Next, we met with our client again to go over the design process for the backyard renovation project.
Once the plan was completed, we met with the client again to discuss the layout of their backyard renovation project and go over any necessary changes or tweaks to the project based on the client’s preferences. After the layout was set in stone we began the process of honing in on the materials to be used. Generally, we have recommendations listed on the plan to show clients in our showroom, this way families can see the products in person so they can effectively choose the products they prefer. Once these steps are completed the construction process can begin. For this project, there were a couple of different products that were used which are listed below:
- Porcelain Pavers
- Highland Stone Freestanding Wall Block
The final step of this backyard renovation project was to install their patio, fire pit, outdoor steps, and landscaping.
The final step of this backyard renovation project was the installation process. We started this project by excavating the area for the paver patio and disposing of the soil off-site. We installed a clean limestone base for this patio to a depth of 6” and compacted it in place. We built a set of outdoor steps from the back door using highland stone and built the fire pit with the same material. The fire pit was a linear fire pit with a gas burner. We screeded limestone chips on top of the clean limestone to level the pavers. The porcelain tiles were laid in a particular pattern and spacers were used to ensure proper joint spacing. We installed polymeric sand in the joints after the patio was laid. The landscaping around the home was the final touch with plantings and fresh mulch. The clients now have an entertaining space outside to use for gatherings.
We are certified by the Interlocking Concrete Paver Institute!
