We recently completed a stunning landscape renovation project at a waterfront home in the Bluewater neighborhood in Omaha, NE. We installed a concrete pool deck, porcelain walkway, paver patio, fountain, retaining wall, and landscaping that completely transformed this property's backyard. The project began with an initial client meeting and then continued with our team creating the design. During the design phase, our client selected the materials they wanted us to use during construction. Once the design was finalized, we got started on the construction phase and completed all installations with precision and care.

Landscape Project Initial Meeting

During the initial meeting with the homeowner, we walked the property to assess the site conditions and discuss the parameters of their renovation project. We discussed where the pool would be located as well as the features that would surround the pool. These included a concrete pool deck, porcelain walkway, paver patio, fountain, retaining wall, and landscaping. While meeting with customers for the first time, we strive to gather as much information as possible in order to prepare a plan that showcases the project and meets their needs. It also enables us to provide an accurate estimate for the client to review.

Landscape Project Design Process

Once the plan was completed, we met with the client again to discuss the layout of their project and go over any necessary changes or tweaks to the project based on the client’s preferences. After the layout was set in stone, we began the process of honing in on the materials to be used. Generally, we have recommendations listed on the plan to show clients in our showroom. This way, families can see the products in person so they can effectively choose the products they prefer. Once the landscape design was completed, the construction process began. For this project, there were several different products that were used:

  • Porcelain Pavers
  • Three-Tiered Fountain
  • Anchor Diamond Pro Retaining Wall Block

The Landscape Construction Process

We started this project by constructing the retaining wall behind the home to level the backyard for the pool installation. The wall was installed on a clean limestone base, as well as backfilled with clean limestone for drainage. Once this wall work was completed, we allowed for the pool to be constructed and the concrete pool deck to be poured. We then graded around the new concrete and added topsoil to all of the beds. We installed a paver patio off of the client's sewing room, with a fountain as a reflective space. The fountain added a wonderful soundscape to the patio.

This area also housed all of the homeowner's carefully selected perennial plant favorites. We installed a porcelain paver walkway from the driveway to the pool deck and from the pool deck to the reflection patio. Lastly, the remaining landscape plantings and trees were installed, and a thick layer of mulch was installed in the landscape beds. This landscape had multiple areas for the client to enjoy, with each area having its own purpose.
