When our clients in Omaha, NE, reached out to our team, they wanted to embark on a backyard makeover project. We scheduled an initial meeting with them, where we walked their property in the Pacific Springs neighborhood to assess the site conditions and discuss the parameters for their renovation. We strive to gather as much information as possible during this consultation to prepare a comprehensive plan that has everything they want, so we determined where the swim spa would go, plus the features that would surround it. These features included a paver patio, fire pit, seating wall, retaining wall with steps, in-ground trampoline, and landscaping. Then, we gave them an accurate estimate to review and ensure it met their needs and expectations.

Following the initial meeting, the first step of this backyard makeover was to design the layout according to the plan. Once we completed the design, we met with our clients again to discuss it and make any necessary changes or tweaks to the project based on their preferences. After the layout was approved, we began choosing the materials we'd use. While we usually offer recommendations on the plan to allow them to see the options in person in our showroom, the decision is ultimately up to them and their aesthetic tastes. After we finished the design process, the next step was construction. We started this renovation project by removing the sod in the backyard and excavating where the swim spa and patio would go. Next, we installed crushed rock and compacted it using a vibratory plate compactor. With the landscape prepped, the pool company used a crane to set up the swim spa. Our team then built the retaining wall, fire pit, and seating wall around the swim spa.

The fire pit we installed for our clients' backyard renovation project has a gas hook-up, which turns on and off with a switch and provides a long-lasting flame.

The final step of this project was to install the pavers for the patio, in-ground trampoline, and softscape elements.

The final step of this backyard makeover project was to install the pavers for the patio, which were laid and cut to fit the other hardscapes. We also brought in several loads of clay soil after all the features were in place to grade the lower portion of the yard, smoothing it out and blending it with the existing grades. Then, we installed the in-ground trampoline, plus a flagstone walkway leading to it from the patio. Finally, we added landscape elements to soften the hardscapes and create a comprehensive flow that blends the new renovations with the rest of the yard.
