During the initial meeting with our client in Omaha, NE, we walked the property to assess the site conditions and discuss the parameters of their patio and landscaping project. These meetings are an essential part of the process, as we strive to gather as much information as possible to prepare a plan and provide an accurate estimate for the client. We discussed renovating their outdoor living space behind the walkout basement to include a patio overlay and additional landscaping in their existing beds for a fuller look. So, we created a design and met with them again to make adjustments based on their preferences. Then, we moved into the construction process, where we got to work on the patio and softscapes.

The first step of this project was to design the layout and choose materials for their patio.

The first step of this project was to design the layout of their project and meet with them again to discuss it. Once we made all the necessary changes and adjustments to suit our client's preferences, we began honing in on the materials they wanted to use for their patio. Generally, we list recommendations on the plan and have a showroom to display the options. That way, they can see the products in person and choose which they prefer. So, we eventually decided to use Lafitt 30mm for both the paver field and paver border.

Then, we followed a comprehensive process to construct the overlay patio.

Once the design phase was complete, we began the construction process for the patio, which was comprehensive and in-depth. We cleaned the surface of the existing concrete patio using a pressure washer in preparation for the overlay paver installation. Then, we installed the border pavers using a border bond product and allowed it to set. After it had adhered to the concrete surface, we screeded the interior with a DriBond product before installing the pavers on top. Next, we wet the surface to activate the DriBond and adhere the pavers to the surface of the existing concrete, which has a cure time of 72 hours. Finally, we could add the polymeric joint sand and wet it for activation. With a new and fresh appearance touch-up to their patio, our client can enjoy it for years to come!

The last step was to add plantings and fresh mulch to their existing landscape beds.

The last step of this project was to add plantings to their existing landscape beds. Not only does this make them denser, but it adds a flourish of color that softens our client's outdoor space! Moreover, we installed fresh mulch for even more depth and contrast. These softscape additions tie the entire area together, which creates a cohesive flow between the rest of the landscape.

Mulch can come in various colors and types, including hardwood, cocoa, black, and red.
